Bitcoin futures trading platform Bakkt Warehouse has expanded its bitcoin custodial services offering on an international scale. It is now licensed to serve all institutions worldwide.
Bakkt Warehouse, a trading platform for Bitcoin futures and digital assets, has announced that it is now available to all institutions. Up to now, it served clients trading in Bakkt Bitcoin Futures contracts only.
Prior to the announcement, the platform received authorization from the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) to offer bitcoin custody to all institutions. This means clients all over the world can now utilize Bakkt’s custodial services.
Major players in the digital asset sphere such as Pantera Capital, Galaxy Digital and Tagomi have said they will work with Bakkt Warehouse. Easy and trustworthy custody, with independent oversight, is considered critical to institutional adoption of bitcoin.
Bakkt Warehouse claims to employ extensive physical, operational and cybersecurity safeguards. It is an affiliate of the Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE), a Fortune 500 company that owns and operates the market infrastructure relied on by many of the world’s largest financial institutions.
