Tron to shift to Liquid network on Bitcoin

| | ,

“Ethereum is over,” Tron CEO Justin Sun has tweeted in a Twitter thread indicating plans for Tron to shift to Liquid network on Bitcoin. Heated debates about Tron and Ethereum continue.

The discussion of plans for Tron to shift to Liquid network began with a tweet by Cold Card and Opendime creator Rodolfo Novak, known as NVK. He tweeted a picture of himself with Justin Sun and Blockstream CEO Adam Back. NVK wrote, “We have a plan. Ethereum is over. Tron moving to liquid network on bitcoin.” Liquid is a network that leverages the Bitcoin blockchain. Sun himself added to the Twitter thread, repeating the statement “Ethereum is over.”

Tron vs. Ethereum

The tweet, which some initially saw as a joke, got the crypto community fired up and triggered heated debates about the legitimacy of both Tron and Ethereum. Supporters of Tron have been issuing statistics in favor of Tron compared to Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap.

On February 7, 2020, Coin Metrics data show the Bitcoin chain processed roughly 333,000 on-chain transactions. Ethereum saw a total of 626,000 transactions in the 24-hour period while Tron carried out around 816,000. While Ethereum has been consistently above Bitcoin transactions per day, Tron has consistently beat Ethereum’s daily average.

The developments come as Bitcoin sees a strong rally, breaking the US$ 10,000 barrier.
